2.1 Submitting the online registration implies the candidate’s acceptance of all the clauses of these rules as well as of the Competition’s musical program.

3. The rounds and their course
3.1 The 3 rounds
Final: recital of 55-60 minutes (in person)
3.2 No changes to the required musical program are accepted; in case of a wrong piece, the candidate will be heard but not graded. Arrangements of works are not accepted: only the original scores are valid. Performance from memory is mandatory. If certain works chosen by the candidates are not at the required level, the Artistic Direction of the Competition reserves the right to refuse the registration applications.
3.3 Candidates registered in ‘Virtuoses’ are not allowed to register in ‘Young Talents’.
The order of performance of the candidates is determined by drawing lots and the physical presence of the candidates is mandatory; this order will be respected in the semi-final and final recital rounds.
Each candidate may try the competition piano, and daily practice sessions on study pianos are also provided.
The winners of this Grand Prize are not allowed to compete a second time. The concept of ex-aequo is excluded for the Grand Prize, for the 2nd Prize, and the 3rd Virtuosity Prize.
3.7 Candidates admitted to the final round will be awarded the title of finalist of the 15th International Piano Competition H.R.H. Princess Lalla Meryem.
3.8 The winners are required to personally attend the Closing Ceremony on Friday, October 31, 2025 for the award presentation; in case of absence, they will automatically lose their right to the prize, except in cases of justified impediments recognized as valid by the Competition Organizing Committee.
3.9 The results of the deliberations of the Virtuoses Final will be officially announced during the Closing Ceremony/Concert. The finalist winners designated by the Jury will be invited to perform at the Closing Ceremony/Concert and at the Gala Concert. The finalist winners cannot claim any remuneration for the Closing Concert, for the Gala Concert, as well as for the concerts offered as Prizes.
The Competition cannot under any circumstances be held responsible for offers from its partners (prizes, concerts, scholarships, master classes…) and therefore assumes no legal liability in case of possible defaults.
3.10 By registering for the Competition, candidates agree that the Association les Amitiés Musicales and its partners, organizers of the International Piano Competition H.R.H. Princess Lalla Meryem, may use the data generated by their registration for promotional purposes of the Competition. All recordings, images and sounds, interviews, various events, and concerts related to the Competition are the property of the Competition. They may be broadcast live and/or recorded, partially and/or in full, by radio, television, on the internet, and through other communication media worldwide without time limitation and without any remuneration.
3.11 Any participant waives any legal action against the Association les Amitiés Musicales and its partners regarding the intellectual property of the data collected. Participants consent to the Association and its partners using the data collected under the stated conditions without contesting these rights.
3.12 The dates and times of the events initially scheduled may be modified: in such cases, the candidates concerned by this modification will be informed individually as soon as possible.
3.13 The dress code for candidates during the rounds and the Closing Ceremony must be appropriate. Any dress code or behavioral violation of the competition rules by the candidate will result in immediate elimination from the competition.
4.1 It is composed of pianists, pedagogues, composers, festival directors of various nationalities with international renown, whose identities will be made public only close to the Competition date.
4.2 The Jury reserves the right to interrupt certain performances and not to award all the Prizes: its decisions are final. In the event of a tie, the vote of the President of the Jury prevails.
4.3 The Jury deliberations are governed by internal regulations. Jury members will not vote for a candidate who is or has been their regular student during the last two years.
4.4 A feedback session (communication) will be organized between the Jury and all Virtuoses semi-finalists not selected, to provide general comments and advice on their performances.
5.1 Travel expenses are the responsibility of the candidates, including transport costs upon arrival and departure from Moroccan train stations and airports.
5.2 For non-resident candidates, adults, and unaccompanied, half-board accommodation costs are covered by the Competition organization from October 25, 2025 to November 2, 2025 inclusive.
6. General Provisions
Musical Program Virtuosos
1st Preselection Round (video): 15–20 minutes
2 or 3 works of your choice
– One work by J.S. BACH
– One or two works in a different style
2nd Round – Semi-Final (in person): 25–30 minutes
2 works of your choice
– A transcendental étude by LISZT or an étude by PAGANINI-LISZT
– A complete Sonata by BEETHOVEN
(excluding: op.2 no.1, op.10 no.1, op.13, op.14 no.1, 2, op.26, op.27 no.2, op.28, op.31 no.2, op.49 no.1,2, op.78, op.79, op.90, op.106)
3rd Round – Final (in person): 55–60 minutes
Recital: The program, composed of works in different styles, must include at least one work by a female composer.
N.B.: None of the works performed in one round may be repeated in the following rounds
